Police fire bullets to disperse rowdy mourners in Lira
Sporadic gunshot on Saturday afternoon rocked Lira Town following the violent send off of a child in Kole District reportedly killed at the hands of two Indian nationals on November 9, 2018.
The incident which started at a burial in Alito Sub-county, spread to a neighbouring town when street children started attacking Indian nationals doing businesses in the Lango principle trade centre.

At the same time, police were engaged in running battles with mourners in Alito Sub-county headquarters who wanted to lynch Lira LC5 chairman, Mr Alex Oremo Alot.
The Lira District chairman wanted to deliver a speech at the burial of Dickens Okello but was reportedly blocked by angry mourners before being booed.
In Lira Town, the shoot-out was sparked off by street children protesting what they called ill-treatment allegedly perpetrated by security forces against civilians.
