MBALE- The Bamasaba cultural leader, Mr Bob Mushikori, and the chairperson of Bugisu Cooperative Union (BCU), Mr Nathan Nandala, have reconciled and pledged to work together for the unity and development of Bamasaba.

“Mr Nandala and our cultural leader have reconciled. They are now one, forget what you have been reading in the media,” Mr Simon Mulongo, the former Member of Parliament for Bubulo East, said at the weekend during Imbalu fete at Mutoto in Mbale.

Mr Nandala also serves as the area MP for Budadiri West and the secretary general for Forum for Democratic Change party.

The rivalry between the leaders manifested after Bugisu Cooperative Union threatened to evict the cultural leader over failure to pay rent arrears amounting to Shs7m.
This resulted in exchange of insults between the two leaders in the public domain.

However, during the meeting at the Umukhukha’s home before the launch of Imbalu fete, Mr Mushikori, the Bugisu cultural leader, said Bugisu can only regain its glory by uniting.

Mr Nandala while giving a speech as the chairperson of BCU, reiterated that their reconciliation was aimed at avoiding derailing the unity and development of the Bamasaba.

The woman MP for Bulambuli District, Ms Sarah Wekomba, applauded the reconciliation and said the cultural leader has always been instrumental in bringing Bamasaba together. “Our cultural leader is peace -loving and he has always tried to cause reconciliation among us political leaders,” she said.
