The leader of the Antiochian Eastern Orthodox Church Bishop Jacinto Kibuuka has appealed to politicians to join forces against ritual sacrifices as Uganda heads to the 2021 polls.

Kibuuka revealed that some politicians have a thinking that sacrificing human blood would help them cling to power or assume political positions which is not right.

This comes after 22-year – old Joseph Nuwashaba was intercepted at Parliament with a human head which he was allegedly delivering to the Speaker of Parliament.

The bishop who also called for sanity following violent scenes in the recently concluded NRM primaries advised politicians to turn to God to live exemplary lives.

He noted that for long there have been stories of politicians seeking ritual intervention to assume political offices which creates fear that cases of ritual sacrifices could at one time end up in their offices.

“The government has the capacity to tell the country who is responsible for the head that was delivered at parliament. They can use camera data and call records to bring the truth to light. Above all, our politicians must repent and stay away from ritual sacrifices,” he added.

Kibuuka said all this at Mamre prayer centre in Namugongo where the Ministry of Health officials were concluding a Covid-19 safety training for the sect of Christian Ecumenical Council of Uganda that Bishop Kibuuka leads.

He also asked government to open churches since all religious sects have undergone training on SOPs and that they will be following the guidelines to control the spread of Covid-19.

Mr Richard Okwi who presided over the ceremony on behalf of the Health ministry officials explained that  the ministry will only allow 100 people in a church service at a time  incase churches are reopened.
