Don’t let negative people ruin your positive mindset- Mufti Menk tells youth

KAMPALA. The Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe, Sheikh Dr Ismail Menk has called on the youth in Uganda to use their energies to develop their country rather than destroy it.

While delivering the Friday summon a.k.a Khutubah to thousands of Muslims who jammed Gaddafi Mosque at Old Kampala Friday afternoon, the visiting Mufti, a global figure, advised the youth in the country not to let negative people ruin their positive mindset.

“Don’t let negative people ruin your positive mindset. Let them go before they completely infiltrate your mind. Such people have issues with themselves and with everything and everyone around them. Make a conscious effort to stay away from them. Don’t entertain such friendship!” Mufti Menk said, adding that “When provoked, respond with peace, this is what Allah wants.”

The Mufti explained that many times the youth have been used to do things that destroy their lives and country because they have the energy.

“All the youth should be saying I will use my energy to do good things…. You should be assets and not liabilities to this beautiful country Allah has given you,” Mufti Menk said.
He preached tolerance, respect and love for God and country as the foundation of humanity.
Mufti Menk also called on Muslims to remain descent, do good and forbid evil so as to get more blessings from God.
“You have to remind yourself that there is only one God because the reminders of the Quran have repeated themselves in more than one place and the almighty urges us to reminds us about the benefits for those who truly believe,” he said

Mufti Menk is on a three-day visit to Uganda and is expected to deliver a public on Sunday at Namboole Stadium the theme “Building bridges”. Mufti Menk, a motivational speaker rallying the Muslims into working together with other faiths and people.

Mufti Menk arrived at Entebbe airport on Thursday at 2am and was led to Pearl of Africa Hotel by a delegation from Uganda Muslim Supreme Council and members of the organizing committee. There will be a corporate dinner at Hotel Africana this evening ahead of the Sunday lecture. There was stampede at Gaddafi Mosque on Friday and Muslims struggled to catch a glimpse of one of the leading global scholars.

Ismail ibn Musa Menk, also known as Mufti Menk was born on June 27 1975). He is a prominent Muslim cleric and a Grand Mufti of Zimbabwe. He is the head of the fatwa department of The Council of Islamic Scholars of Zimbabwe.

He was named one of The 500 Most Influential Muslims in the world by the Royal Aal al-Bayt Institute for Islamic Thought in Jordan in 2013, 2014 and 2017. In 2018 he published a collection of his sayings as a book titled Motivational Moments and in 2019 published the second edition, titled Motivational Moments.
