Court has fined an electrician Shs2 million and in defaulting, spend a year in Luzira prison for trespassing to climb an electricity pole which is a property of UMEME Ltd.
Christopher Mubiru, 18, while appearing at Standards Utilities and Wildlife Court presided over by magistrate Marion Mangeni, confessed to trespass and conspiracy to trespass. This was after he entered a plea bargain with the state.
On conspiracy charges Mubiru was charged alongside Douglas Ssengendo, 30, also an electrician and Hannington Wasajja, 27, a manager at Climax Reloader Bar. They also pleaded guilty.
Court sentenced the duo to a fine of Shs1 million each and in defaulting they will also spend a year in prison.
Prosecution contends that Mubiru on September 11, 2019 at Zambena Gardens in Nabweru in Wakiso District with intent to commit an offence climbed on an electric pole property of UMEME Ltd.
On the count of conspiracy the convicts were arrested on September 11, 2019 at Katooke, Lugoba in Wakiso District at another scene while Mubiru was climbing the electricity pole.
