Police in Ibanda District are hunting for a man over allegations that he killed his lover and later ran a way.
Residents of Kajwamushana village, Keihangaara Sub County in Ibanda District on Wednesday morning found the body of Judith Kendegyeya lying in a pool of blood in the house where she had been living with her longtime lover and now suspect, Edgar Kafuba.
Kafuba is a resident of Ishaka town council, Bushenyi District who has been operating his business in Igorora town council, Ibanda District.
Police are holding the area LCI chairperson Mr George William Musebeni, for having allowed unidentified people to live in the locality without being registered.
Local residents say the suspect developed a misunderstanding with the lover before strangling her. The suspect reportedly ran away and a neighbour who had come to check on them only found Kendegyeya's lifeless body before alerting the police.
Mr Denis Ochama, the Ibanda District police commander told our reporter that police have launched a man-hunt for the suspect.
He says police also arrested William Museveni, the Kajwamuhoro local council one chairperson to help with investigations.
According to Mr Ochama, local residents destroyed property belonging to the suspect and the deceased after learning of the incident.

On November 21, Januario Nsiimire, a resident of Ruti cell in Nyakayojo division in Mbarara Municipality was arrested by the police over the death of his girlfriend, Caroline Mbabazi.
Mbabazi died as a result of the complications she developed during a domestic fight with Januario.
On November 7, Deus Karegyesa, a resident of Kishungwe village in Rwengwe Sub County in Buhweju District killed his son only identified as Deus during a domestic brawl with his wife.
On the same day, a man only identified as Clinton stabbed his rival Alkangyero Mugyerwa to death at a drinking joint in Kizinda trading centre in Bishenyi district following a misunderstanding over a girl.
