Another secondary school was yesterday forced to close after a student strike. Ntare School in Mbarara joins Jinja’s Kiira College, Butiiki and Bubaare SS in Kabale, which closed on Tuesday over strikes.

About 1,200 students were sent home, 10 days to the official closure of the first term, following yet another strike this term.

The strike at Bubaare, which resulted in the death of a female student, was sparked by a school management order to ban joint evening preps between girls and boys while that one at Kiira College was sparked off by complaints of mal administration and poor food.

The one at Ntare was sparked off by the school management’s failure to register the school team in the on-going regional Coca Cola Football Championship competitions.
