Ugandans to celebrate their heritage in New York

Ugandans in North America under the UNAA Causes group are set to celebrate their heritage in Manhattan, US.

The event that will run from August 29 to September 2 will take place at the iconic Grand Hyatt in New York.

A statement from UNAA Causes confirmed the sell-out of all rooms at the Grand Hyatt.

This year’s festival will feature the chief executive officer of the Nabagereka Foundation, Mr Adrian Mukiibi and Dr Maria Nassali;  the vice chairperson board of governors at the foundation.

The Nabagereka Foundation partnered with UNAA Causes to support the great work of the foundation, according to UNAA Causes Chief Executive Officer, Mr David Muwanga.

“Dr  Maria Nassali, will Join us to enlighten us on the foundation’s work and how best Ugandans in North America can play a role,” Mr Muwanga said.

He said they will unveil a team to lead UNAA Causes as it joins efforts of the foundation in improving the lives of Ugandans.

This year’s convention, according to organisers, will focus on the theme of : “Social economic strengthening for adolescent girls and young Women.”

Other organisations that will showcase their businesses include DFCU Bank, Centenary Bank,  Kenya Airways, Universal Multi-Purpose Enterprises, Comfort Homes, Southgate Properties, Five Square Homes,  Hardware World, Namukupa Hardware, KPG Real Estate Brokers, Pyramid Homes, among others

The business sessions will be moderated CBS Programme Director, Mr Abby Mukiibi, Ms Crystal Newman, Super Model Aamito Lagum and Ms Sheila Gashumba, among others.

The festival entertainment line-up features Diamond Platnumz, Afrigo Band, David Lutalo, Rema, Chosen Becky and South African Music Director, Mr Mpho Pholo

The Fashion Weekend at the festival will feature fashioner designers; Santa Anzo, Anitah Beryl, Abbas Kaijuka, Martha Jabo, Abryanz, Fatuma Asha among others as well as the newly crowned Miss Uganda, Ms Oliver Nakakande.
