AUDIO: The e-waste problem

With advancement in technology globally almost every household is in possession of an electrical gadget.
These among other things could include TV sets, Computers fridges and Phones.
These days the mentioned gadgets have become most common and widely used in all kinds of activities ranging from schools, residences, to offices.
However due to the wear and tear effect many of these electrical and electronic gadgets outlive their usefulness turning into what is called E-waste.
This has become a major problem especially in developing countries, Uganda inclusive with increased dumping of such gadgets from the developed countries.
KFM’s Benjamin Jumbe explores how big the E waste problem is, its risks and measures being undertaken to manage it.
