Heathens stand in Kobs’ way for seventh win

KAMPALA.

They might be experiencing different fortunes for now but whenever Kobs and Heathens clash, there is always plenty to talk about.
While Betway Kobs are unbeaten and are top of the Nile Special Rugby Premiership, Hima Cement Heathens lie fifth after three losses, giving a rare sight of the log as the two are expected to be battling it out at the summit.
Although majority of the rugby fraternity believe Heathens can no longer defend their title as it would take something special, their captain Michael Wokorach still holds a little faith and today’s game provides a perfect platform for his side to hit the ground running.
“Who said we are out of the race. It’s not over until it’s over,” he said. “Saturday’s game is a big one and it’s a test game for Heathens to see how far we can go this season. We are approaching it as the biggest game of the season and are working towards winning all our remaining games of the season and do the maths after.”
Kobs have surprised many with their form and one of the reasons they have stood out is doing the basics right with less errors. It’s no shock therefore that captain Brian Asaba is sure the game will be decided on error count.
“The game will be won by the side with the least errors,” he told SCORE.
After throwing words at each other on various social media platforms for majority of the season, Rimula Rhinos and Buzz Pirates now have the chance to put a point across when they clash at Legends.
“It’s a big game for us and an opportunity for Pirates to position themselves well in view of the title ambitions, I think the team which will look after the ball well, play rugby in the right places and being efficient with the opportunities created will take the day,” Pirates coach Bobby Musinguzi told this paper.
Elsewhere winless Rams host sixth placed Warriors while Hippos hope to claim another scalp when they host Buffaloes in Jinja. Plascon Mongers visit Impis expecting to bounce back from last week’s 22-9 loss against Kobs.
