Makalama expects a vengeful Kobs

KAMPALA.

34-20 it ended in favour of Shell Rimula Rhinos when they played Betway Kobs in the first round of the Nile Special Rugby Premiership in November last year.

The two square off today at Legends Rugby Club in what Rhinos coach Brian Makalama expects a hard game for his outfit considering Kobs will have revenge on their minds.

“I know they are coming for revenge,” Makalama, also a former Rugby Cranes prop, told SCORE. “One of their players told me as much when we crossed paths days ago.”

Despite a Kobs player tipping Makalama of their revenge approach, captain Brian Asaba laughed off the suggestion, claiming that his side’s game plan has no revenge on it but how they have prepared this week.

“No revenge at all,” said Asaba. “Only playing as we have trained is what is on our minds alongside correcting the mistakes we made in the last encounter.”

Kyadondo derby
Across the road, Toyota Buffaloes will continue their hunt for their first-ever win over Hima Cement Heathens in the Kyadondo derby. Buffaloes have beaten every side in league apart from Heathens but they are glad to keep trying till the break comes.

“The boys would love to make history by beating Heathens,” said Buffaloes coach Edgar Lemirigah. “The two back-to-back wins have boosted the energy levels and belief.”

Heathens are without captain Michael Wokorach (jaw), while Robert Masendi and Paul Epillo will sit out for Buffaloes.

Elsewhere, Pirates visit Mongers desperate to make up for last week’s loss to Buffaloes while the Entebbe side will be looking to end a three-game losing streak which saw them embarrassingly fall 55-19 to Kobs in front of their fans. Heathens’ lead margin is 10 points after their dominant show last weekend. Kobs and Pirates follow while Rhinos occupy fourth place with five match days left.
