Slow starters URA aim to keep KCCA in check

What you need to know:

  • Soccer. Just like last season, URA have had a slow start to the season and must start firing to keep tabs on pacesetters and champions KCCA.

Kampala.

A slow start derailed URA’s title charge last season with coach Moses Basena earning the sack after eight games following the slow start. A year on, his erstwhile assistant Kefa Kisala, finds himself in a similar position.

With only five games played, the tax collectors (seven points) already find themselves five behind leaders KCCA (before Vipers’ game yesterday) with victory over Proline today key if they are to keep in touch with the leading pack.

“The difference has been our behavior without the ball which has been poor. I am not worried for my job because in coaching we are told you start packing your bags the day you are apoointed to the job,” Kisala responded.

His opponents are in a worse situation. After four draws, newly-promoted Proline put up their worst performance thus far as they went down 3-0 to SC Villa on Tuesday.

“It cannot get any worse. We shall use this game as motivation going forward,” Proline director and coach Mujib Kasule.

At the top end, leaders KCCA are looking to build on Tuesday’s 1-0 home win over the Saints when they travel to Jinja to face Bul.

Last season’s top scorer Robert Ssentongo could make his debut for KCCA against a Bul side that did the double over them last season.

The Frank Anyau-coached team picked their first win of the season relying on Milton Kariisa to stun Express 1-0. At the Betway Greenlight Stadium, a boisterous welcome awaits Caesar Okhuti in what will be his first home game as Onduparaka host Police in Arua.
