Daniel Matsiko, one of the candidates vying for the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) top seat, has vowed to hold talks with Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) to return Sam Mugumya, who is under incarceration in the western part of the country.

He also promised to promote cohesion and unity in Kampala city.

The candidates started their campaigns about an hour ago, led by Patrick Amuriat at the delegates’ conference at the Mandela National Stadium, Namboole.

Amuriat decried disunity in the party, where top leadership have vowed not to work with each other. He vows to close the gap to ensure that there is unity in the party.

"My presidency will encourage financial empowerment. We are going to make money together so that this party grows very fast. I will endeavour to win the friend we have lost overseas," Amuriat said.

Today's delegates’ conference will also elect the Deputy Treasurer (Mobilisation) and the Secretary for Labour. Buhweju County MP Francis Mwijukye and Amuru Woman MP Lucy Akello are the two candidates vying for the position.
