Religious leaders have prayed for sanity to return to Parliament following a series of brawls in the House that left some legislators injured and several others arrested.

Twenty four Opposition Members of Parliament were on September 27 suspended following the chaos that broke out as they accused State Minister for Water Resources Ronald Kibuule of smuggling a gun into the House chambers.
Parliament is also divided over the matter of the presidential age limit.

The clerics also prayed for Speaker Rebecca Kadaga

It’s against this background that a group of Pentecostal Christian leaders from across the country on Thursday converged inside Parliament chambers to cleanse it of what they called evil spirit following the recent chaos.

The over 100 Christians led by renowned Pastor Julius Oyet, prayed and sanctified the chambers with the blood of Jesus and also laid hands on the Speaker Rebecca Kadaga.
“We pray for wisdom and guidance protection. We declare that no weapon formed against her will prevail and that she will not die prematurely,” pastor Oyet prayed.

In his prayers, Pastor Tony Okot from Northern Uganda said: “We speak peace in this chamber and rotational of leaders we pray for a sober spirit as members debate the Bill and silence all other spirits in this place. We pray that whatever they do, will done with fear, peace, love, unity and respect for one another.”
