Court sets date for ex-Monitor staff trial

Kampala. The hearing of a case against former sales executive of Monitor Publications Limited on embezzlement charges will start on December 1.
Mr Owen Kakama is being tried before the Anti-Corruption Court.
The court set the hearing date after prosecution submitted that investigations into the case had been completed.
“Your worship investigations in the matter are complete and we seek a hearing date,” State prosecutor Caroline Tabaro told the trial magistrate, Mr Peter Fred Lochomin.

The magistrate adjourned the case to December1 for the hearing.

The prosecution contends that after receiving the money, Mr Kakama did not remit it to his employer but instead disappeared with it until May 4, when he was arrested and handed over to police.
Mr Kakama appeared in court without legal representation.
