Former DPC Kirumira murder suspect charged, remanded

WAKISO. One of the suspects in the murder offormer Buyende District Police Commander ASP Muhammad Kirumira has been charged with two counts of murder before Wakiso Grade One Magistrate Court.
At around 12:30pm the 47-year-old was brought  in, under tight security and straight away taken to the dock .

The accused, who is a carpenter, is a resident of Mirimu Zone,  Makindye/Ssabagabo Municipality, Wakiso District .

Wakiso Grade One Magistrate Martin Kirya didn’t allow the suspect to take plea because the court lacks the jurisdiction to try murder suspects.

He remanded him to Kigo Prison until October 19 when hearing of the case is expected to start at the High Court.
Prosecution led by Josephine Nnanyonga told court that on September 8 at Bulenga trading center, the suspect together with others still at large murdered Mr Kirumira together with her friend  Resty Mbabazi Nnalinya.
A total of 18 suspects have so far been arrested in connection with the killing of Kirumira while five others are reportedly still at large.

Kirumira is the 19th high profile individual to be murdered in the same style in the last six years.
