IGG orders judge to refund Shs630,000

High Court judge Elizabeth Kabanda Kibula, has been directed by the Inspector General of Government (IGG), to refund a total of Shs630,000, part of which money was meant for upcountry travel allowance for her former bodyguard and driver that she did not remit to them.

In her February 23, 2018 probe report, a copy which Daily Monitor has seen, the second Deputy IGG, Ms Mariam Wangadya, breaks down the monies that Justice Kabanda is supposed to refund.

The judge, who is attached to the Kampala High Court Criminal Division, is supposed to refund part of the money, which is Shs290,000, to her former bodyguard, Mr Jimmy Eyou and her former driver, Mr Matiya Akantorana.

The duo support staff successfully lodged a complaint against Justice Kabanda before the IGG, accusing her of not remitting to them their allowances when they escorted her to Mpigi and Mubende High Court criminal sessions held in 2016/17 respectively.
