A lead member of Mr Mbabazi’s security team, Mr Christopher Aine has reportedly gone missing.

According to Ms Josephine Mayanja Nkanji the Director of Communications & Public Relations for Amama Mbabazi campaign, Mr Aine was picked while he was leaving their main offices at Nakasero, Kampala by unknown people.

“They picked him as he left our offices, we do not know where they took him and they won’t tell us,” Mr Nkanji said.

“But like it has been said already, you can arrest the people but you cannot arrest an idea. It is not right to arrest someone for protecting a citizen,” she added.

However, Uganda police spokesperson Mr Fred Enanga refuted any claims that Mr Aine could be in the hands of the police.

“Although we have been looking for him, we have not arrested him and we do not know where he is either,” Mr Enanga said.

Mr Christopher Aine is wanted by the police for assault, acts of incitement to violence and obstruction of officers on lawful duty. Police allege that Mr Aine assaulted and obstructed officers on duty in Soroti and Jinja during former Prime Minister Amama Mbabazi’s botched consultation meetings in the districts on Wednesday and Thursday last week respectively.

Mr Aine’s arrest follows that of Mr Gilbert Mugasha who was arrested in Fortpotal reportedly distributing counterfeit notes to residents.
