Lands State minister Idah Nantaba has retained the Kayunga District Woman MP seat after trouncing her rival, Ms Juliet Nalunga (NRM).

Ms Nantaba, who contested as an independent candidate was declared winner by the Kayunga District Returning Officer Ms Ruth Nakacwa after polling 86,057 votes against her rival’s 13,184 votes.

“I was sure of winning this seat by a big margin. I am now going to concentrate on fighting poverty among my voters,” she promised.

Ms Nantaba protested the outcome of NRM primaries and contested as independent alleging that she was rigged out by Mr Moses Karangwa, the Kayunga District NRM chairman.
