The family and relatives of the former Minister Akbar Adoko Nekyon have ruled out possible homicide in his death.
They also deny authorising lawyer, Adams Makmot to challenge circumstances surrounding the veteran politician's death.
Nekyon died on Friday 4th May 2018, but Lawyer Makmot on Tuesday wrote to the Director Criminal Investigations, Grace Akullo asking for an investigation to be instituted into the death of Nekyon.
In his letter, the lawyer reveals that before his death, Nekyon spent 6 days staying at the Sheraton Hotel, where he died from.
On Friday, Engena Maitum on behalf of the late Nekyon's family disassociated themselves from the letter by Makmot saying none of the family members instructed Makmot, Kibwanga and Company Advocates to file a complaint to Uganda Police to investigate any possible homicide in the death of Hajji Nekyon.
"The late Hajji Akbar Nekyon had been indisposed for sometime. He suffered a stroke on 18th March 2018 and was admitted at Florence Nightingale, Apac district from where he was relocated and admitted at Nsambya Hospital on 19th March 2018. He was discharged on 18th April 2018 and died on 4th May 2018 at his home in Nsambya," reads the release.

Engena further denies that the family of late Nekyon is involved in squabbles for his property and the contents of letter attributed to the family describing it as regrettable, and extremely unfortunate.
On Friday, Nsambya Hospital denied admitting, treating or handling the body of former Minister Akbar Adoko Nekyon. The lawyer to the Nekyon Family contacted the hospital and was informed that Nekyon was last seen at Nsambya Hospital for a medical review, three weeks before he died.

According to the lawyer Adam Makmot Kibwanga, the information from the hospital only goes further to confirm that Nekyon could have been murdered in his hotel room at Sheraton hotel. However, the hospital Administrator Stella Ojinga said, whoever alleges that Nekyon died from Nsambya hospital must prove the claims.
At the time of his death, Nekyon had also applied for police protection and was granted three police officers one of whom Makmot claims has since been arrested and is detained at a secret place.
Makmot says, there are so many unanswered questions in relation to the death of Nekyon. The police spokesperson in charge CID Vincent Ssekate, says that a General inquiry file has been opened.

"We have opened a General inquiry file and we are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death," Ssekate told this reporter.
