Boston. Sharif “The Lion” Bogere has not boxed in any contest for the last eight months, raising many questions about his form, whether he has lost his speed and agility in the ring.
Well, all these questions and doubts will be answered tonight when Bogere takes on Ghanaian national Samuel Amoako in a 12 round non tittle bout at the Armory Arena, Washington DC. Amoako who resides in Maryland DC, is a replacement for Luiz Edwardo who had initially been scheduled to fight the 27-year-old Ugandan.

The fight, to be televised live on Showtime, is among the three under cards for Jack Badou versus Lucian Bute’s WBC World Super middleweight tittle.
Badou who will be defending his title is, like Bogere, promoted by Floyd Joy Mayweather Jr. whose is widely considered the greatest boxer of his era, undefeated as a professional, and a former five-division world champion.

No-contest
Bogere’s previous fight last August was ruled a no-contest after his opponent Daniel Ruiz shockingly walked off the ring in round two of eight. Bogere, who resides in Las Vegas has just one loss in 27 fights of which 19 are knock outs. Despite his impressive record, worry is that he has not fought in eight months.
However, his coaches Kenny Adam and assistant Brandon Woods have expressed tremendous confindence in their boxer and are hopeful he will be explosive tonight.
“I dont think eight months out would hurt a guy like Bogere. Kenny and myself have been keeping him busy in the gym, “ said Woods who works mostly on fitness.

“We are always in the gym working on stuff, not so much conditioning but technical stuff that he needs to do, balancing, positioning, keeping his hands up and emphasing defense to grab offense. “
“He (Bogere) has been doing great with the speed bag, upper cut bag, slip ball, double-end striking bag, sparring and the reflex bag. We have prepared him well and there’s no doubt he will be explosive tonight, “ he added.
