Golola talks big ahead of Black Belt Muay Thai Bout

For eight weeks, East and Central kickboxing champion Moses Golola has camped in Nairobi preparing for the Black Belt Muay Thai contest with Tanzanian champion Emmanuel Shija (right). The bout is set for October 15 at Kasarani Complex.

The veteran fighter, who will headline a one-day tourney dubbed “One Region One Champion”, told Daily Monitor that he wants to extend his kickboxing influence to the Kenyans so that he can get money to complete his academy project in Kawempe.

“I want to thump Shija again in front of the Kenyans so that they know I’m not a joking subject. I have dominated Ugandan kickboxing for so long and now it is time to try out life in Kenya,” said the eccentric fighter.

Golola, who is currently getting fighting tips from renowned Dutch coach Andre, floored Shija in round one in 2014 at Crested Crane Hotel in Jinja when the two fighters first met.

Shija has since camped in Thailand for renaissance ahead of the rematch but Golola remains optimistic of stopping him again on Saturday in round one.
“I have made improvements in the K1 and Muay Thai styles. I know that if I win even President Yoweri Museveni will remember the contribution promise he made for my academy,” he said

According to Xtra Kombat’s director, Paul Kabaale, Golola and Shija will be battling out for the inaugural Xtra Kombat Muay Thai Africa title.

“The winner of the vacant title will get lucrative sponsorship deals from the many companies behind the event. Golola is a big brand here in Nairobi and we want him to fight more bouts here after,” Kabaale revealed.

Another Ugandan, Twaha “Black Lee” Kiiza will take on Kenya’s undisputed Muay Thai champion Robert Nabertson in the welterweight Xtra Kombat Muay Thai regional title.
