KAMPALA. Peter Kakaire believes it is time for an Eastern Motor Club driver to challenge for top honours at next weekend’s Source of the Nile Rally next weekend.
The driver who also hails from Jinja believes he and other drivers from the region stand to benefit from the change and nature of course in the second race on the National Rally Championship calendar.
“We want to show the visiting drivers that there is a Kyabazinga here, we know the route and am sure we won’t disappoint,” he said.

“We expect a fast route because the roads in the region are flat and wide unlike other areas in the country,” added the driver who only managed a seventh-place finish at the same event last season.
Unlike the past rallies which mainly concentrated in areas around Jinja, this year’s race which comprises four sections will traverse areas of Iganga, Mayuge, Bugiri after the Super Special stage in Jinja on day one.
It will also unlike most rallies have a 1.5km spectator stage done thrice on the second day of action after 66 and 49km sections named in honour of Peter Munyegera and Mubarak Kisingo some of the fallen pioneer drivers in the region. About 24 drivers have registered for the rally.
