KAMPALA.

Reigning national MX1 champion and Team Uganda captain Maxmime Van Pee has played down the challenges of Arthur Blick Jr and Asaf Natan for the title this season.

A bullish Van Pee is going as far as handing his opponents a 30-second head-start. “In the past events I have given them a 15-sec head-start and still beaten them,” he said yesterday. “Now I will try to give them 30 seconds. That is good for the fans.”

During the launch of the 4th round of Mountain Dew MX championship yesterday at Speedway Motorsports Club Offices Rubaga road, 10-time national champion Blick Jr conceded Van Pee is the man to beat. “He has been the dominant rider in the class this season. But at Busiika it’s going to be different. We want to put a stop to his dominance to revive our chances of winning the MX1 title,” the veteran rider noted.

“At the moment he is in different class and we have to be at our best to beat him.”
