KAMPALA.

Kata Technologies maintained the lead in the ladies’ category of the National Table Tennis League despite losing their unbeaten run at Kololo Senior Secondary School Tuesday night.

Kata, who came with an 8-1 aggregate lead from two rounds of the league, suffered their first defeat, marginally losing 3-2 to Riskzip after tight matchups.

Riskzip will thank Regina Nakibuule, one of the national top players, who won both of her games of the night.
Her close 3-2 victory against 2014 Commonwealth player Ludia Natunga was a loud statement of intent and the 3-0 win over Teddy Nambafu was simply obvious. Nakibuule’s teammate Patricia Mbabazi lost against Natunga but her win over Nambafu gave them the overall team victory.

In another ladies’ tight duel, Kampala International University (KIU) edged Ndejje 3-2. Top seed Halima Nambozo continued her rich vein of form, beating Ivy Nekesa and Asha Nambozo 3-0 each.

Her partner Faridah Makhame won one and lost one to make the team score 2-2. KIU had to win the doubles (3-0) to advance 3-2.
