KAMPALA.

Like Floyd Mayweather convincingly outwitted fierce adversary Manny Pacquiao at his familiar MGM Grand Arena, bodybuilder Mubarak Kizito beat others to emerge Mr Kampala at his home Grand Global Hotel in Makerere, Sunday night.

The shortest of all finalists, Kizito walked his big pre-event talk.

“I am overly delighted for this sweet victory I have craved for long,” Kizito, all-smiles, told Daily Monitor, amid interventions from his equally delighted fans, who took turns in lifting him in jubilation.

Kizito, who was second behind Ben Lukwago in 2013, emerged the best in the lightweight (66-70 Kg) category in the semifinals before beating five others at the finals. “I had well-toned, dry and higher volume muscles compared to my rivals, a giant stride since 2013. I really worked hard for this,” Kizito explained.

National team coach Ssali Tamale could not agree more: “Kizito had the best muscles, and his body well balanced compared to that of his closest rival Iga.” Kizito, 27, attributed his success to his manager Paul Kayizzi and facilitation from Grand Global Hotel, where he works as a gym instructor.

He has bigger dreams but first, “I want Byekwaso to give me one more chance to show him how much stock I have got nowadays.” That chance should come in the this year’s Mr. Uganda Championships. Byekwaso is the most successful bodybuilder in Uganda having won several global titles.
