Poor travellers Vipers away to Mbarara FC

Kampala.

Poor travellers Vipers will have to dig in their heels to grind out a win at Kakyeka Grounds against a Mbarara City side that is yet to lose at home.
With only one away win this season (against Masavu) in four outings, third-placed Vipers know the kind of challenge that awaits them at Kakyeka where Express and Police have so far fallen.
“It is one of the most difficult games. It is important to be prepared mentally going into the match.
“We are looking at it as another tie, we want to go ahead and make a statement,” Vipers head coach Miguel Da Costa said ahead of the trip yesterday.
Vipers are yet to win a league match in the last three attempts, something which has made Costa’s role more precarious as the pressure from fans and management mounts. “Football is a permanent test and we have to prove ourselves all the time. Friday, (today) there will be changes but the objective is still the same.
“We have to respond against a team who will be motivated and have the whole town behind them,” the eccentric Portuguese added.
He welcomes back Taddeo Lwanga, Hassan Kalega, Steven Mukwala, Duncan Seninde and Tony Odur as he aims to get the two-time league champions back on the title chasing rail.
The hosts under Vialli Bainomugisha will be hoping their suspect backline of Asuman Buyinza, Asuman Alishe and Yeseri Waibi can measure up to the Venoms attack.
“We don’t fear Vipers. We only have respect them just like we do for other opponents,” Bainomugisha, whose side sits 10th on the Uganda Premier League table, remarked yesterday.

Onduparaka eyeing top
With a strong belief that the away blues will hunt them no more, Leo Adraa’s Onduparaka head to Kakindu grounds this afternoon searching for three points off struggling Bul to get back to the summit.
