Some easy to get fixes for that sore throat

A sore throat can be a discomfort. It comes as a result of your body’s immune system’s response to viral or bacterial infections. Treat the sore throat using your kitchen ingredients.

Warm saltwater gargle
This is a very common home remedy according to Dr Julius Kusemererwa. The salty water helps reduce swelling by removing excess water in the swelling. Dissolve one tablespoon of salt in one cup of water. Gargle for one minute, ensuring that the mixture reaches your throat. Spit the water and repeat as many times in a day.

Raw garlic
Raw garlic is a remedy for many body complications including a sore throat. Chew the garlic and the juice will help reduce the pain and eventually cure the sores.

Honey
Kusemererwa notes that, if taken constantly either in tea or on its own, honey will make the throat smooth hence reducing pain. It can also reduce the cough if the sore throat is caused by cough.

Lemon water
“Lemon has vitamin C and antioxidants that increase the amount of saliva production hence keeping your throat moist, you can as well mix lemon juice with honey or warm salty water and drink,” Kusemererwa says.

Drink warm liquids
Drinking warm fluids such as water and tea among others will also keep the throat moist and weaken the bacteria.

Ginger
Ginger is mostly used to cure colds, a common cause of a sore throat. Add it in tea or hot water and drink as frequently as possible. “Hot food or drinks may increase the pain as well as create more wounds. Make sure whatever you take is warm not hot,” Kusemererwa warns.
