Police in Lamwo district are holding a 12 year old boy on allegations of killing a one and a half year old toddler, Prisca Aloyo.

The incident reportedly happened on Monday afternoon at Katebu village, Paloga Sub County in Lamwo District.

It alleged that the suspect hit the toddler with brick on the head killing her instantly.

At the time of the incident, the deceased was playing with other children before she went missing while the mother had gone to the farmland.

During the search, the suspect led the group which included the baby’s mother Ms Agnes Atimango, 28, to where the body was dumped.

“The mother of the deceased had gone to the garden while the father Mr Richard Otim who is also a Village Health Team (VHT) worker, had gone for the training at Paloga Sub County headquarters in the on ongoing mass immunization against measles,’’ Mr Okot said.

According to a source close to the family said the suspect is a nephew to the toddler’s father.

The suspect confessed to the LCI and locals that he hit baby with a piece of brick because she was following him when he wanted to go shooting birds in the nearby bush.

The body of the deceased has since been taken to Padibe Health centre IV for post-mortem before handing it over to the family for burial.

Aswa region Police spokesperson Jimmy Patrick Okema, said the suspect is currently detained at Lamwo central Police Station at the Juvenile detention center pending investigation.
