MASAKA. Police in Masaka Sub-region are on tension as a spate of brutal killings and attacks re-emerge in different districts.
The latest is of Jalia Nakajugo, a 67-year-old resident of Kakoma Village in Kalisizo Rural Sub County in Kyotera District. She was murdered by unknown assailants on Wednesday morning.
According to Mr Grace Mutono, the Kyotera District Police Commander, Nakajugo was murdered at about 9pm at her home as she moved from the kitchen to the main house.
Mr Mutono further said the killing could have been as a result of land disagreements within the family. The assailants carried Nakajugo’s body and dumped it near her late father’s grave.

On December 30, three other people were also attacked by machete-wielding assailants and are currently nursing wounds at Masaka Regional Referral Hospital. The victims are residents of Kiyanja Village in Mukungwe Sub County, Masaka District.
Mr Lameck Kigozi, the southern regional police spokesperson said Police are yet to deploy more personnel so that all criminals terrorizing the sub region are arrested and prosecuted.
"We are going to deploy more officers in the different parts of the Sub-region so that those crimes are curbed, "he said.
