President Museveni has described Kyadondo East MP Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine as an “enemy of progress in Uganda” using “foreigners to wage war on the country’s prosperity.”
According to the president, Mr Kyagulanyi went to the U.S and dissuaded Americans from investing in Uganda.

“Mr Bobi Wine went to America and said that people should not come and invest in Uganda. That means he’s an enemy of progress in Uganda. I was in Opposition myself in the 1960s as a member of the Democratic Party (DP). But when I was a member of DP, I could not say ‘don’t build the Masaka-Kabale road because I’m not in the government.’ I couldn’t say that,” Mr Museveni said in an interview with BBC Newsday's Alan Kasujja at State House, Entebbe.

Asked about the recent cancellation of music shows organized by the singer-cum politician, Mr Museveni said: “If you’re waging war on our country when you go and tell foreigners that they should not come and invest in our country then you’re waging war on our prosperity. Why then do you want at the same time come and take advantage of that prosperity!”

President Museveni is seeking a sixth term in office in 2021 but the last few years have been dominated by a battle with Bobi Wine currently seen as his leading critic.
The leader of The People Power movement accuses Mr Museveni of oppression.

“Shamelessly Mr Museveni brands me enemy of Uganda's progress! Mr President, your first name is corruption, second liar, third despot. You've run down our country, killed our people, destroyed institutions and rule us through the barrel of the gun! You are the enemy of Uganda!” Mr Kyagulanyi tweeted on Friday.

He added: "34 years in power. Ailing education sector. Sick health-care. Sickening poverty levels. Unemployment. State capture. Murders all over. Militarised state. Gross human rights violations. Nepotism. Misuse of power. This is the system Mr Museveni calls progress and seeks to protect!"
