Some schools in Kamwokya have closed over tear gas fired by Police to disperse the angry mob who were demonstrating over the detention of Kyandondo East legislator Robert Kyagulanyi alias Bobi Wine.
The residents say they just want to see Bobi wine dead or alive and they vow not to rest until their ‘son’ is released.
An official of Kings of Kings Junior school who did not disclose her name over security purposes says that they cannot continue teaching children when there is teargas.
Consequently they have withdrawn the pupils from the school to Kira Road police field where parents have been picking their children and taking them home.
Some of the residents who were not taking part in the protest also landed into teargas and collapsed.
Police is currently heavily deployed in Kamwokya and several shops and buildings have been closed.
Meanwhile, the Uganda People’s Defense Forces spokesperson Brig Richard Karemire, in a pr ess statement, has said that that Bobi Wine’s family will soon be allowed to visit him.
“For whatever condition Hon Kyagulanyi may be in as a result of the whole Arua fracas, UPDF will ensure that he receives adequate attention and care now that he is under safe custody. His family also will be able to visit him as per established procedure,” the statement reads.
