Kenyan national held in Uganda over Illegal entry

Police in Uganda are holding a 26-year-old Kenyan man on charges of illegal entry.
Martin Munene was arrested on Wednesday at Ambercoart Uganda Revenue Authority (URA) check point near the Nile Bridge in Jinja District in eastern Uganda after he was sighted under the truck near the spare tyre by URA personnel.

He was handed over to Jinja Police together with the trailer driver Moshi Robinson, 30. The trailer registration number KBN 936A and the suspects are currently detained at Jinja police station.
“He (Munene) does not have any documents and claims to be a resident of Kisumu. The trailer was carrying raw materials for Gentex factory located in Nakawa. The driver claims he was not aware of anybody travelling on the truck and is also detained on holding charge of human trafficking. We want to commend the officers for the high levels of vigilance,” said Kira region police spokesperson, Ms Dina Nandawula.

Uganda is currently on full security alert days after Al-Shabaab militants attacked the DusitD2 hotel and office complex in Nairobi, Kenya, killing 21 people and injuring several others.
