The trial in which a young man is accused of harassing Kabarole District Woman MP Sylvia Rwabwogo through love messages has flopped.

Brian Isiko, 25, a student of YMCA College of Business Studies in Jinja, is charged with cyber harassment and offensive communication against Ms Rwabwogo.

In a session presided over Buganda Road Magistrate, Ms Stella Amabilis the matter was scheduled for further hearing, when Isiko’s lawyer, Mr Ramathan Waiswa informed court that he is not ready to proceed as he needs to rush to the hospital where his mother is admitted.

The state, led by Ms Miriam Njuki, concurred with Mr Waiswa’s request before she sought for an adjournment to December 19 for hearing.

In July a magistrate’s court convicted Isiko on what was taken as his own plea of guilty and sentenced to two years in jail, a decision that touched off a public uproar and on appeal to the High Court, the judgment was quashed and a retrial was ordered.

Prosecution alleges that between the months of November 2017 and June 2018, Isiko used a computer to make love requests, suggestions or proposals which were obscene, rude, lustful or indecent to the person of Ms Rwabwogo.
It adds that Isiko willfully and repeatedly used electronic communication through SMS messages or attempted to disturb the peace and quiet enjoyment or right to privacy of Ms Rwabwogo with no purpose of legitimate communication.
