Rally driver Ponsiano Lwakataka has been charged with malicious damage to property and remanded.
He was remanded to Kauga prison until January 21. He appeared before Grade One Magistrate Patience Koburunga.

Mr Lwakataka was arrested by police on Saturday in Kiwanga village, Mukono Municipality after allegedly demolishing residents’ houses. The residents led by George William Kawooya dragged Mr Lwakataka to court.
It is alleged that Lwakataka claimed to be the caretaker of the land which originally belonged to the late Anthony Kiggundu and therefore wants a share.

The local council chairperson Richard Lugolobi Kasirivu said on Saturday that Mr Lwakataka stormed the village and started demolishing fenced houses claiming he wanted part of the land because he had been the caretaker.
“He had demolished three houses without a court order and police caught him in the act and arrested him,” Lugolobi said.

Mr Lugolobi said Mr Lwakataka claimed to be a relative to the late Kiggundu and that he groomed the deceased’s family and therefore deserves a share of the land.
