Police in Gulu District have said they have in custody Uganda people's Congress party's National Deputy Secretary for Mobilization, Mr Dan Oola Odiya, contrary to allegations that he was kidnapped by unknown men on Wednesday evening.

Mr Oola, who is also the UPC spokesperson for Acholi sub-region was reported to have been abducted by unknown men who bundled him a vehicle along Coronation Road at about 8 pm in Gulu Municipality as he headed home.

Aswa Regional Police Spokesperson, Jimmy Patrick Okema however told Daily Monitor in an interview on Thursday that Mr Odiya was arrested by police on a very sensitive crime following high placed intelligence.

He said Mr Odiya is being detained at Gulu Central Police station adding that police are still interrogating him.

“We cannot disclose why he was arrested at the moment because the matter is very sensitive. We shall inform the public at an appropriate time after we have finished investigations,” Mr Okema said.

He noted that the public should not be in panic since Odiya is in safe hands
