Police recover underage girl’s body in lodge
Police are holding a 23-year-old casual labourer attached to Chris Spalling Farmland for allegedly strangling his girlfriend.
The suspect is accused of killing Sylvia Nagujja, 16, at Musey View Lodge in Wairaka-Walumbe Village in Kakira, Jinja District on Saturday night.
The teenager’s body which had bruises on the neck, chest and hands was retrieved from the lodge by police.
The suspect was found hiding in a sugarcane plantation near the lodge.
Police have preferred murder charges against the accused.
“My guests usually sign out from the rooms at 10:00 am but to my surprise, when I checked the room where the two had booked at 4:00 pm, there was no response. I called police officers who broke into the room and found the body,” Mr Jonathan Musene, the manager of the cottage said.
Ms Diana Nandawula, the Kiira Region Police spokesperson said they are investigating the crime.
She said police handed over Nagujja’s body to Jinja Regional Referral Hospital Mortuary for a post-mortem.
