Michael Kalinda aka Zigy Wyne has Wednesday laid to rest at his ancestral home in Katooma Village, Bukari Parish in Kashenshero Sub-county, Mitooma District.

At the burial, People Power political pressure group members rejected the cause of death that was given by police.

Police, in their August 6 statement said Wyne’s death resulted from a road accident he was involved in while riding a motorbike on the Northern Bypass on July 21, at about 7.30 pm.

“Police said he died as a result of accident; it’s the same police that said I had guns in Arua and later withdrew the claim. Police had initially said he was killed and they later said it was an accident. He was killed innocently, he did not commit any crime, we are law abiding,” Mr Robert Kyagulanyi, aka Bobi Wine, the leader of People Power and Kyaddondo East, Member of Parliament, said at the burial.

Mr William Jumba, Wyne’s neighbour and friend told the mourners said:  “He washed his motorcycle on Sunday and he told us that he had a meeting in Kamwokya. Later in the day, he waved to us as he left [for the meeting]. We expected him to return around 9pm in vain. Three days later, the wife got concerned about his absence for that long time. We rang on his mobile lines but nobody was picking. We moved to all places, police and hospitals until we found him in Mulago.”

He added: “He left home when he was smart but we found him dressed like a brick maker.”

Mourners booed the Deputy Resident District Commissioner, Mr William Kasolo, when he attempted to read a police statement about the accident where it was explained that he got involved in that resulted into his death, forcing him to abandon it.

Wyne’s uncle, Mr Nekemia Mbeine, said that they haven’t received the post-mortem report.

“It’s not yet out, we haven’t known exactly what killed him,” he said.

Former presidential candidate, Dr Abed Bwanika said Wyne’s mysterious death has left family members with deep wounds.

“When you are sure of what has taken your person’s life, you can say it’s God who has decided so, but when you have different reports about someone’s death, you remain deeply hurt,” Dr Bwanika said.

The head of Kashenshero archdeaconry, Rev Richard Mubangizi said that if Kalinda was killed  and those responsible are denying, they will never hide from God when time to answer comes.
