KAMPALA. JKL Dolphins have been the early pacesetters of the National Basketball League having started the season with three straight wins.
It remains to be seen how far they can stretch that run with a seemingly difficult run of games coming up for Sam Obol’s charges who sprung a bit of a surprise by reaching the playoff semifinals last season. First up is a game against last season’s losing finalists and five-time champions Betway Power before facing off with KIU Titans, Ndejje, champions City Oilers and Warriors respectively.

Apart from their three-game winning run that includes win over KCCA and Our Saviour, they also come into today’s game at YMCA having claimed a 50-46 overtime win over Power in the pre-season UCU invitational open.

Preparing better
“It’s a much bigger game. Whoever prepares better takes it. The UCU victory doesn’t mean anything right now. It is in the past it’s a new game. It’s all square and whoever prepares better takes it,” Daniel Monoja said after the 74-63 win over Kampala University.
The forward put up a 12 point and 14 rebound performance with veteran Jude Ochen adding 19 points.

“We will try and take the coach’s lead, see what he gives us and see what we can improve on. The consistency for starters has been a beacon. Because if you remember last season if we had back to back we always won one and lost one. So it is a good thing in a way so if we continue with this trend it will take us far,” Ochen noted. They will be up against a Power team that showed plenty of fight in recovering from the 69-66 loss to City Oilers to defeat KIU Titans 71-60 last weekend.
Last season’s losing finalists had Geoffrey Soro lead with 22 points and guard Syrus Kiviiri added 16 points, five assists and recorded no turnover as Power prevailed.
