Abu Dhabi Prix: Last four Pirelli F1 winners picked
This was a press conference high on humour, fun and excitement.
Formula One enthusiast Maurice Mugisha, also the deputy MD of Uganda Broadcasting Corporation, was one of the invited guests to conduct the final City Tyres-Pirelli draw to take eight lucky winners for an all-expenses paid to Abu Dhabi for the year’s final race.
Although the Championship is already decided in favour of popular Mercedes superstar Lewis Hamilton, the love and passion for the sport continues unabated.
It was Mugisha who picked Nicholas Kyaligonza as the winner and when the veteran journalist called him to promise a small goat to celebrate his chance trip, the response was as hilarious as it was amusing for all journalists and guests at the event. New Italian ambassador to Uganda H.E Massimiliano Mazzanti, who picked the last winner Robert Kipira thanked City Tyres for the company’s dedication to supporting Ugandan sport and the passion of F1 fans in the country.
Expressing eagerness
The function was also attended by Sarah Lubanga from the Consulate of Canada to Uganda.
Among the known winners who attended the presser was Vipers Marketing Director and Hardware World boss Simon Ssekankya, who expressed his eagerness to watch the glitz and glamour of the man and machine sport.
At the Abu Dhabi Grand Prix, Hamilton will be chasing his 82nd race victory with only Michael Schumacher above him on 91.
