KAMPALA. The Umospoc Kabalega Rally, the penultimate round on the FMU calendar has attracted close to 40 drivers. The event takes place this weekend in Hoima.

Less than 100 points sepaa chance of winning the 2019 crown.

Yasin Nasser (Subaru GVB) fuelled by Moil has a 35 points lead over Ronald Ssebuguzi three times NRC champions in Evo X in Shell V-Power colours with Arthur Blick Jr, the 2015 champion driving Evo X in Shell Helix colours is a further 20 points.

Blick Jr won the last event last month in Fort Portal to put himself in race for his second title.

“The car is ready and hope we carry our winning mentality from Fort Portal to Hoima,” Blick Jr who drives with George Ssemakula said.

Hassan Alwi (Subaru N14) fourth, is the only driver in the top five without a title after missing out on the 2016 to Jas Mangat by four points. Christakis Fitidis (Evo X), the 2017 national champion fuelled by yet another oil company Oryx, completes the top five.

However, Jas Mangat (Evo X) who missed the last round, Duncan ‘Kikankane’ Mubiru (Subaru GVB), Hajji Umar Mayanja (Evo X) in Shell Helix colours and Adam Rauf (Evo X) in Total colours will be out to spoil the party for championship contenders.

The event has a total of 303km of which 173.73km is competitive.
