KAMPALA. The Friday Night Light tournament can be described as successful after seven years of existence at the YMCA court.

But as organisers seek to fuse basketball with lifestyle and the night life, massive changes have been made ahead of the eighth edition.

This year’s tournament will for the first time be held at Panamera in Naguru in addition to the playing format being changed to 3*3 basketball, the shorter version of the game.

“We are trying to bridge the gap between entertainment and basketball,” Tom Ochamringa one of the organisers stated.

The Tusker Lite and Roke Telekom sponsored event won by Team Jonah over the past two season will run for eight Fridays from November 9 to January 18 with eight games expected every night.

“It should be more exciting with more fan involvement. With players such as Ivan Enabu fans will be able to see some behind the back crossovers too,” added Jimmy Enabu.

Each side in the competition will be composed of 3 NBL players, two ladies, and three fans to make eight players.

The three on court must include a lady, a fan and a male professional player for each side with each game running for 15 minutes.

Tusker Lite has been in bed with local basketball, sponsoring the league, playoffs including the Fiba 3x3 World Cup Women's tournament held in Philippines in June. In nutshell, we shall always be there to help basketball grow into the country's leading sport,” added Cathy Twesigye, the UBL head of premium beer.
