New Challenge. Coach Basena

KAMPALA. Barring any favourable developments at Fufa, Moses Basena will approach his new job at Rwandan club, SunRise, with a verve of a hungry student eager to experience and learn again.

The experienced Ugandan coach was unveiled at the Nyagatare-based club on Monday on a two-year contract. In the same breath, the 52-year-old confirmed to Daily Monitor that “I have applied for the national team coaching job but in football you move on with your life and let the rest take its course.”

So he will let the Cranes coach selection process take its course in Kampala as he concentrates on his new job at the Rwandan topflight club with the target of helping them close the gap on the traditional powerhouses like APR and Rayon Sports.

“It is a new experience,” said Basena, assistant national team coach during Micho Sredojevic’s time, “I haven’t worked in Rwanda before so I’m looking forward to the challenge.

“Of course it comes with pressure to deliver but every challenge you take on comes with that. Apart from the new experience and the prospects, I also want to remain active.”
SunRise narrowly survived relegation last campaign, finishing the 2018 – 2019 season just one place above the drop.
