Magogo got Shs500m for Caf duties

Moses Magogo’s two-month suspension by Fifa for his role in the resale of 2014 World Cup tickets ends tomorrow. Magogo was also fined Shs37m ($10,000).
However, all has not been gloom for the 42-year-old football administrator, who along other Caf executive committee members reportedly shared out approximately Shs11.4b ($3,112,710) between June 2017, after Ahmad Ahmad replaced Issa Hayatou as Caf president, and November 2018.

Magogo received approximately Shs500m ($136,750) for that period. The highest earner was Constant Omari from DR Congo, currently the first vice president of Caf, who earned approximately Shs740m ($201,520).
Djibouti’s Suleiman Waberi was second highest earner with Shs671m ($183,616) while Moroccan FA president Fouzi Lekjaa received Shs620m ($169,825).

These figures are contained in a document in possession of Inside World Football which the Daily Monitor has seen. The document was confirmed authentic by Mohamed El Sherei the former Caf finance director according to Inside World Football.
It is also understood that committee members receive an annual remuneration of Shs219m ($60,000), plus daily allowances while attending Caf functions and events.

These figures do not take into account travel or hotel costs that are picked up by the confederation and local organising committee (LOC) where Caf events are held.

The release of this document will be a big blow to Caf battling to change its image with the guidance of Fifa.
Last month Caf unilaterally terminated its 12-year $1billion broadcasting contract with Lagardere Sports.
The man whom Ahmad replaced - Issa Hayatou - had gone without a salary for most of his 29-year reign. The Cameroonian took charge in 1988 but only accepted a salary, equivalent to $30,000 per month, in July 2016.
