KAMPALA- URA coach Sam Ssimbwa cursed refereeing decisions as the tax collectors missed the chance to improve their 11th place standing on the log.

A 0-0 draw with Busoga United on Friday at Bombo Army Barracks means URA have 15 points, a massive 18, behind the leaders Vipers (this excludes yesterday’s game against KCCA at Lugogo). Ssimbwa ackonwledged a disappointing afternoon, but felt his side should have been awarded a penalty when skipper Shafiq Kagimu was brought down in the box by Busoga’s goalkeeper. He also suggested that the disallowed goal should have stood.

“We should have won the game. We got a very good goal and it was disallowed. We should have had a penalty and maybe a send-off, he (referee) refused,” Ssimbwa said.

“I am disappointed when we do not win, of course. But what should we do now?” said Ssimbwa.

Elsewhere, Ben Ocen scored a first half penalty to hand Police a successive victory as they edged a miserable Bright Stars 1-0 at Bombo in a lunchtime kick-off. Ocen scored after Andrew Kaggwa handled the ball in the area in the 24th minute. Police (11pts) are now one-point better than Bright Stars who end the first round with one win and seven draws.

In Mbarara, Brian Ssenyondo won his second successive game since replacing Paul Nkata at Mbarara City with a 2-0 victory over Kyetume. Denis Lubowa scored an own goal which was supplemented by Ibrahim Orit’s teasing corner on a wet Kakyeka Stadium. Mbarara City with 16 points, are ninth on the log.
