Uganda U-15 riding high in Cecafa

A second win for Uganda Under-15 in the ongoing Cecafa junior tourney in Eritrea yesterday ensured that coach Jackson Magera’s side has progressed through the group.
Travis Mutyaba netted as Uganda U-15 beat Tanzania in a highly contested group B game yesterday at the Cecafa championship at Asmara International Stadium.
The young midfielder scored after slotting home from a 25 yard free kick 27 minutes into the game, after Abbas Kyeyune had been fouled by a Tanzanian opponent. Mutyaba then grabbed his brace, when substitute Patrick Ouke played him through to goal in injury time, to settle the matters. Tanzania attacked to get an equalizer but were halted by a steady defence, with Peter Gubya, who had been selected ahead of Daniel Mukisa in goal, making fine saves with captain Vincent Mulema, Caros Kaddu and Peter Gaya, manning the back line.
“I am happy we have won our second game and majorly against Tanzania. My players played well according to instructions and the result is encouraging,” Magera said.

Magera made two changes in the lineup that beat Ethiopia 3-0 in the opening game, bringing on Gubya for Mukisa in goal and Kalisa Shungai in the middle of midfield for Leonard Kasanya, forcing a change with Mutyaba now operating on the left flank. His technique worked well.
Uganda now leads the group with maximum points from two games and will next play against South Sundan on Friday.
