KCCA warns taxpayers of conmen

Kampala- Kampala Capital City Authority (KCCA) has warned taxpayers against transacting businesses with conmen who have infiltrated the revenue collection team in the city.
Mr Fred Andema, the KCCA acting director of revenue collection, told Daily Monitor early in the week that there are people disguising themselves as the authority’s revenue collection officers, who he said have even illegal uniforms with KCCA logos.
“We would like to warn our taxpayers to be vigilant because there are very many masqueraders around town working as KCCA revenue collection officers, and they go around asking for cash yet we only accept payments made through the bank or mobile money platforms,” Mr Andema said.
Meanwhile, KCCA taxes, just like any other government agency, will no longer be paid to their account but that of Uganda Revenue Authority (URA).
The change in the mode of payment is contained in a directive from the ministry of Finance to have revenue collections from all government agencies paid through a Single Treasury Account managed by URA.
Mr Andema explained that a Payment Reference Number (PRN) shall be automatically generated from URA through the enabled interface between URA and KCCA upon which a Payment Registration Slip will be issued.
