NRM presidential candidate Yoweri Museveni has waived off the requirement for security before Ugandans access government funds aimed at wealth creation.

The President said he had received complaints that some youth had been asked for security before benefiting from the youth livelihood support programme.

Mr Museveni argued that the security for the poor is the trust group members have for a recipient.
“If people in the person’s group trust him or her, that is the mortgage,” he said.

Mr Museveni argued that if the people demanding government’s financial support had security, they would have got loans from commercial banks.

While campaigning in Kiboga and Kyankwanzi districts yesterday, the NRM candidate said the newly-created women fund will be allocated Shs234 billion.

He also promised to increase funds into Saccos which have been at sub-counties from the current Shs44 billion to Shs180 billion.
Mr Museveni said each village in the country will at least get Shs2 million.

He had earlier completed his campaigns with a rally in Bunyoro sub-region at Kakindo playground in Kyabigambire Sub-county, Hoima District.

On the same day, he addressed rallies at Saza ground in Kiboga Town, Ntwetwe Town Council and at Bukwiri Primary School in Kyankwanzi District.

Mr Museveni said the youth fund where government has injected Shs54 billion, will be increased to Shs234 billion in order to increase the number of beneficiaries under the fund. He said funding for the Naads sector will be increased from Shs203 billion to Shs1 trillion.

Mr Museveni warned former NRM leaders who are castigating the party which made them what they are today. “They are what they are because of the movement,” he said without mentioning names.
The President who punctuated his speech with various proverbs said when a stupid child is respected because of his father; he mistakes the respect to be his.

One of the candidates challenging Mr Museveni for the presidency in the February 18, poll is his former confidant and party head Amama Mbabazi an Independent presidential candidate. Mr Mbabazi was a former prime minister and secretary general of the NRM party until he was sacked in September 2014.

NRM supporters donated 45 cows to Mr Museveni but he said the donation is for NRM and he will stock them in Ngoma farm.
The Kiboga District chairperson, Mr Israel Yiga, described the President as Jesus’ ambassador to Uganda and Africa who has pacified the country and initiated various development programmes.
