KAMPALA. A1 Challenge’s vision is to be the leading organization empowering the girl child through sport and being the agents of positive change in East and Central Africa.

Founded 20 years ago, the 2005 National Basketball League winners have for several years been involved in several outreach programs aimed at mainly empowering the girl child.

The club will by the first quarter of next year be expected to accomplish one of its biggest tangible benefits when they set up a basketball court in Bugolobi, one of the most densely populated kampala suburbs.

This followed the finalization of a deal between the club and online betting company 1X bet.

"We wanted an area where we can reach out to many youths and Bugolobi flats falls in that category,” Carol Kisukye, the team manager A-1 Ladies Club stated.

The betting company offered shs10m to help construct the court that Kisukye believes will provide youth a platform to showcase their skills.

The club then intends to teach life skills and enhance the lifestyles of youth in the area.

According to 1X Bet Operations Manager Anthony Dhabangi, the offer is part of the gaming’s Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.

A-1 has over the years traversed several parts of the country teaching life skills and scouting talented players like Abigail Abe, Maria Angole, Kamwada Babi and Ramla Ali that they intend to integrate in the team.
