After losing their opening fixture against South African Spar Proteas in the Tri- Nations Netball Test Series in Cape Town, the She Cranes on Friday liberated themselves with a 49-29 win against Namibia’s Desert Jewels.
This came with goal defender Joan Nampungu winning the player-of-the match accolade.
The combination of Nampungu and Shaffie Nalwanja in defence have been a force two reckon against South Africa and Namibia.
Uganda led throughout the game, thanks to the shooting combination of Hanisha Muhameed and Irene Eyaru who worked tirelessly to serve the net but not without failed attempts.
The first quarter ended 12-6 in favour of the She Cranes.
Uganda would then lead with 22-17 at half time before the third quarter that saw more resilience from Namibia but still trailing behind Uganda with 37-21.
Before half time, the Desert Jewels upped their game to narrow the gap but Uganda maintained the lead to the final whistle.
Uganda will play a non-ranking game against Baby Spar Proteas on Saturday before taking on spar Proteas and Desert Jewels on Sunday.
